The Buckleys have lived in their MAK home since 1993. Prior to living in MAK, they lived on College Avenue where they waited for years for the “right” MAK home to come available for their purchase. They love living in MAK because of the neighbors and the living history of the MAK neighborhood.
The Buckleys are excited about being on the 2007 Tour of Homes because they want to support a tour featuring MAK homes and they want to have a MAK celebration while the neighborhood’s oldest resident, Lib Kennedy, can enjoy it.
Construction and Design
The home was built in 1915 as a two-story, four-bedroom, two-bath home. It was renovated by prior owners, who enclosed the attic to add additional living space. The home is currently a five-bedroom, three-bath home with approximately 3,100 square feet of living space. It has the added feature of a garage apartment (not open for the tour).
With its symmetrical façade, bracketed cornices and additive front porch with classic-styled columns, the design of 327 Adams is referred to as a Colonial Revival (two-story version). The Buckleys have most recently expanded and renovated the home’s kitchen. The interior of the home showcases antique furniture and original features such as a built-in china cabinet in the dining room.
The home was most recently featured in the television show “October Road,” which debuted on ABC in March. The home’s exterior and interior is featured on the show as the primary character’s boyhood home. The exterior was also featured in the movie “Remember the Titans.”
Collections
The Buckley’s home features many pieces of original art. Patti Buckley also has a collection of dresses featuring 100 years of women’s fashion. Numerous pieces of antique furniture can be seen on the tour.
The Buckleys decorate extensively for the holidays.
