Eric and Natalie purchased their 1926 Craftsman bungalow in original condition seven years ago. They were attracted to the wide front porch, higher ceilings and the unique trim moldings. The Gregorys restored the home over a one-year period and recently hired Ili Nilsson with TerraCotta Properties to add period styling. Modern storage and technology needs have been addressed and seamlessly blended into the home’s original style. In the kitchen, notice the storage and recycling island; in the library, the shelving, which houses visual/audio equipment and books.
The family has a collection of original art by mostly local artists. As you tour the home, take note of the black-and-white family portraits by Melissa Crain and an oil painting by Decatur artist Nancy Wallace in the central hall and stairway. Above the mantel is an original oil painting by Druid Hills artist Whitney Wolf. Even the iron railing on the back entry was custom made by Jason Smith of Smithworks.
The Gregorys take pleasure in living in the Decatur community. They enjoy the small schools as well as “walkability” to shops, restaurants and local festivals and events.
For the holidays, the family uses nature as an inspiration for a simple yet festive decorating theme. Red is maximized to evoke love, happiness and the excitement of the season!
